New furniture

I bought Emma some new pine furniture for her room today. Now I can start working on her old compactum for the twins. I have to paint it and just touch up some areas.

Laurie has been given a ray of hope. Dr G said that he will re-assess Laurie's condition on Friday. He says by then that the twins will be 34 weeks and should be 2kg's each. Maybe he will deliver them the following week. Keep your fingers crossed.

Emma-Leigh had her school concert on Saturday. It was excellent and so cute. I will have to get the video so that we can show it to Laurie.

There is no change in Laurie's condition. Dr G is not giving any indication when he might deliver the twins.

I had a big day yesterday doing a demo for Telkom. No pressure!! Fortunately it went well.

Mark started building our study at last. Hopefully he will finish today or maybe Monday. Once that is done I can finish the nursery.

The nurses had to up Laurie's dosage of the drugs she is on last night. Dr G saw her this morning and said that this was not unusual. The body builds up a bit of an immunity to the drugs.

Laurie is feeling somewhat despondent and wants nothing more than to come home. Unfortunately, it's a hurry up and wait game.

It looks like Mark is going to finally get round to putting in our study today. He says it will take about three days. We have been waiting 2 weeks but hey who's counting. Once the study is done we will be able to move the computer out of the nursery and empty some of the shelves in the cupboard - all my computer junk - and put it into the study. We can then finish decorating the nursery. In light of Laurie's condition I really need to get moving on this.

If anyone has the time Laurie would really appreciate a phone call or visit.

Bored, bored, bored...

Laurie is getting really bored in hospital. It is difficult for her to move around with a drip attached to her.

Thank you to everyone who phoned and visited. Hayley and Helen thanks for phoning. Thanks Roland and Shawn for coming to visit.

Laurie is doing well otherwise, she is not in any pain. It is just a wating game at this stage.

Laurie staying where she is.

I saw Laurie this morning. They reduced her medication last night and labour came on straight away, so she was in quite a bit of pain early this morning. They have up'ed her medication again and she is feeling better. Dr G says that she will be in hospital for at least the week. He has not said when he will deliver the twins. Hurry up and wait, I think is the expression.

Laurie in hospital

Laurie went into hospital on Friday afternoon. The twins decided they wanted to come early. We saw Dr G late in the afternoon and he booked Laurie into hospital. She is on medication to stop the onset of labour. So far she is responding positvely to the drugs. Today they will start to wean her off the medication and see if the labour pains do not come back. She may be discharged on Monday, but I thing this is unlikely. There is a good chance Laurie might stay in hospital for a least two weeks.

The good news is that the twins are viable. They are 1.6Kgs each, which is good. They may have to go onto a ventilator for a couple of days to help their breathing. Laurie is being given quaterzone injections to help develop their lungs.

I will keep everyone updated via this blog.

Mochachino

I have found the hot chocolate in the office and have been making myself mochachino's. One teaspoon coffee, 3 teaspoons hot chocolate, a bit of sugar, a splash of milk and full with hot water. Awesome!

And the president is....

It doesn't get much closer than this

Nursery painting

As you can see I thought I would experiment with a little colour seeing as that is what I have been doing over the last couple of days.

Laurie and I painted the nursery over the weekend. We got Weaver (complex gardener)to paint the passageway and the ceiling in the passage.

We split the nursery horizontally into two colours. The yellow is this colour and the blue is this colour. We are going to put a moon and stars border around the middle. We also bought a moon and stars stencil which we will use to decorate the room some more.

We are very pleased with the outcome so far. When we have finished I will post some pictures.
